Center for Interprofessional Education

1Health represents our vision of health for Minnesota and how all of our health professions can contribute to meeting the ideal.

1Health is a vision for interprofessional education at the University of Minnesota, Academic Health Center that ensures that all health professions students can demonstrate interprofessional competencies. Health professions students are required to participate in courses and/or experiences to achieve interprofessional  competencies.  Each school/college selects which of their professional programs will participate in 1Health.

1Health launched in Fall 2010 with the incoming health professions students.  Students will participate in three phases of 1Health during their professional program.

1Health Phase I (Orientation) Comprised of the Foundations of Interprofessional Communication & Collaboration, (FIPCC) course.

1Health Phase II (Building the Toolbox) will occur during the middle portion of a student’s program and provides options of interprofessional courses and experiences for students to choose from that are approved by their school/college.

1Health Phase III (Authentic Experiences) is the clinical or practice phase of the program when the students begin practicing in authentic environments.
