FIPCC
Foundations of Interprofessional Communication & Collaboration (FIPCC) is a required course for incoming AHC students involved in identified health professional programs. The course will emphasize face-to-face interaction and incorporate online resources to explore the concepts of interprofessional collaboration. FIPCC will be built around national resources for interprofessional collaboration and education such as the principles of the Affordable Care Act (ACA - 2010), patient safety, systems improvement and quality, including the soon-to-be-finalized competency domains defined nationally for interprofessional health and healthcare collaboration. This course begins to expose students to the new health care world focused on collaboration. Students will have an opportunity to get to know other health profession roles as they are learning more about their own profession. Students learn that communication across health professions is crucial and vitally important. The course is highly interactive with each small interprofessional group consisting of 12 students and a facilitator who assists in making connections between his/her own personal life experiences and the curriculum. 2011 FIPCC Assessment and Revision Plan Video featuring FIPCC Course Director, Dr. Paul Jardine
