Discover rural health care first-hand by living and learning in a rural community. You'll learn about rural health care systems and factors that influence health in rural areas. You'll also become part of the community in which you work—a unique experience that offers both personal and professional rewards.

Rural health educational opportunities

If you're a student in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, public health, or allied health, Minnesota AHEC can help you find rural community projects and clinical rotations of between one week and nine months. You'll live and work in a rural community that will welcome you with stimulating interprofessional and community outreach activities.

Learn more about rural practice in Minnesota

The Rural Health Modules provide an interprofessional perspective to rural practice with a focus on rural Minnesota. These modules are recommended for any health profession student doing a rotation in rural Minnesota.
