The AHC Office of Facilities and Capital Planning supports the Senior Vice President's Office, the six schools of the Academic Health Center, multiple interdisciplinary centers and institutes, and the University of Minnesota by creating the physical environment and related facilities support services for teaching, research, outreach and clinical services. Focusing on strategic priorities of the AHC, services provided today include:
Strategic Facility Planning - AHC district-wide planning to match the growth of the three mission areas: research, education and clinical services.
Capital Project Planning and Delivery - Provides planning, programming and interior design services to colleges, schools and departments throughout the AHC who require changes in the physical environment. The varying scope of projects include new buildings, renovating outdated laboratories, updating ineffective office layouts and leasing space for expanded services. The AHC Office of Facilities and Capital Planning aids in the complicated process of capital planning, and works to align capital investments with the strategic plans of the AHC.
Space Management - Focuses on organizing the space that already exists. The goal is to create effective adjacencies, provide the ability to grow, and allocate space fairly. The AHC Office of Facilities oversees the annual Space and Occupancy Survey and maintains and ongoing list of space requests, space resources and detailed occupancy and use data.
Facilities Services - Provides single point of contact partners to Facilities Management, safety and security coordination and BSL-3 operations and management planning.
Classroom Services - Reports to the AHC Office of Facilities and Capital Planning, and manages classroom scheduling, security, technology and maintenance of forty AHC classrooms.
