Teaching Portfolio and Scholarly Papers


At least three and no more than five papers published by the nominee(s) related to the scholarship of teaching should be included in the Nomination Packet. These papers should be sent to external and internal peers along with the request for the letters of support.

Teaching Portfolio

The nominator should assist the nominee(s) in the preparation of a teaching portfolio. The portfolio should be sent to external and internal peers along with the request for letters of support. Components include:

  • Philosophy of Teaching
    Provide reflective statement of 2-3 pages that include:
    • Personal teaching philosophy
    • Goals for self as teacher
    • Philosophy of student learning
    • Contributions to education of future professionals
    • Innovations in program(s), course(s), class assignments
    • Overview of materials in portfolio
  • List of awards, honors received related to teaching and/or advising, including training grants, and committee chairs/memberships
  • List of courses taught with example of at least one syllabus (if nominee is involved in direct instruction)
  • Table summarizing results of student evaluations indicating course title, year, and enrollment as appropriate (if nominee is involved in direct instruction).
  • Descriptive materials for at least one innovative project
  • Description of exemplary assignment required in a course or workshop (if applicable to the nomination)
