For information on how to respond to an exposure to bloodborne pathogens, please click on Section 5.

Learning Objectives
This educational module is designed for AHC health professionals-in-training involved in educational rotations who must learn how to prevent and respond to bloodborne pathogens and tuberculosis exposures.

After completing this module, you should be able to:

- describe the health insurance coverage required to cover emergency medical situations.
- follow the requirements for immunizations and vaccinations.
- identify the risks of bloodborne pathogen exposures for health care workers.
- describe measures to take during educational experiences to prevent exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
- describe the risks of tuberculosis exposure for health care workers.
- describe the fit-tested mask requirements for students who rotate through areas at high risk for tuberculosis.
- describe the AHC response protocol for exposure to bloodborne pathogens during educational experiences.

This module uses a flexible learning format that allows you to easily access the information and work at your own pace.  You can explore the contents in any sequence, though it is recommended you study the sections as they are sequenced in the navigational box on the right side of this page.  When you've completed a section, click on the next section in the navigation box to proceed.  If you work straight through the module, it should take you approximately thirty to forty minutes to complete.
