Membership, AHC Taskforce on Intercollegiate Centers
An AHC Task Force on Intercollegiate Centers will be convened to review criteria for creating, sustaining, and reviewing an AHC center. Mark Paller reviewed the roster of potential taskforce members which were recommended by the deans. The deans reviewed the list and agreed to the membership. Mark will convene the task force soon.
Rochester
and Center for Allied Health Professions
Frank Cerra and Barbara Brandt gave an overview of the Center for Allied Health Programs. Barbara has been working with an advisory group to develop a University of Minnesota Center for Allied Health Programs. The long range goal is a statewide School of Allied Health Professions.
For the Center for Allied Health Programs, the area of first focus will be in the Twin Cities and Rochester for Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Sciences, and Occupational Therapy. Other programs may be added in the future. The goal is to create innovative educational platforms needed to deliver learner-centered and customer-service oriented experiential education. The University Strategic Positioning taskforces on Knowledge Management and Health Professions Workforce will be instrumental in helping to develop these educational platforms.
Budget Model
Frank Cerra and Beth Nunnally reviewed the new internal budget model. The strategic goals and objectives of the University direct the policies, procedures and priorities. The budget model defines the rules for revenues and expenditures. The budget process will be driven by the compacts, and the deans will control the revenue they generate. The budget model is designed to make budget decisions transparent, and be as simple as possible to understand and administer.
The meeting adjourned at 4:20 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathryn P. Anderson Staff to the Academic Health Center Deans Council
