The Health Careers Center currently provides credit-based courses, workshops, fairs and special events, outreach activities, and communications and educational products. They have fostered relationships with internal and external groups such as the undergraduate colleges, student groups and programs, higher education institutions, high schools, government and community partners. They continue to focus on building and expanding health sciences enrollment through collaborative partnerships, leveraging recruitment expertise and specialists, and strengthening the overall enrollment of the University’s student body.
University Strategic Positioning Task Forces
Jennifer Cieslak discussed the next steps in AHC strategic positioning. The task forces have made recommendations for implementation. Jennifer discussed the implementation plan and responsibilities for the short term and long term, or whether further planning was needed. She commented that some of the recommendations will require the work of several functions or groups.
Frank Cerra commented that Provost Tom Sullivan and he will be working on a new policy that defines the differences and describes the interface between professional practice degrees and graduate degrees.
AHC Strategic Positioning – Board of Regents Presentation
Frank Cerra commented on his presentation on AHC strategic positioning to the Board of Regents on June 8. The Regents stated that the wording of the policy questions should be “how do we…” instead of “how can we…” A copy of the document can be found on the AHC website.
AHC Seed Grant Applicants
Mark Paller stated there were 58 grants submitted this year, and the quantity and quality of the grants had increased. The reviewers recommended that fifteen grants be funded. Mark commented that there were not as many grants from Public Health and Pharmacy as previously. The Council approved the reviewer’s recommendations.
Mark Paller and Frank Cerra published an analysis of the program outcomes in Academic Medicine, 2006.
The meeting adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
