State of the AHC
 On January 31, 2008, Senior Vice President Frank B. Cerra gave his annual State of the Academic Health Center speech, focusing on how imagination has fueled innovation. He reflected on the successes of the past and outlined plans for supporting future innovation, including breaking ground for new facilities, and emphasized the AHC's role as a steward of health for Minnesota.
"We are here to ensure that those future generations understand that health care is about our patients and communities it's not about us," he said. "And that through service – through stewardship – we will find the true meaning of purpose that's at the core of health professional education, research, and clinical care."
