CERTIFICATION OF CLINICAL
RESEARCH PROFESSIONALS. Congratulations to Laurie Cariveau and Lila
Schoelkoph who recently earned the designation of Certified Clinical Research
Coordinator (CCRC) from the Association of Clinical Research Professionals
(ACRP) after completing a course of study and passing the certifying exam.
The RSO is proud that all of our coordinators and research process monitors
are ACRP-certified. This is a unique and noteworthy achievement.
SUGGESTIONS FOR CLINICAL
TRIAL WEBSITES. The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) of DHHS issued
a report evaluating the use of websites to provide information about clinical
trials and to support the informed consent process. The report’s observations
will be useful to anyone using a website to provide more than minimal information
about specific clinical trial opportunities. Problems noted included inaccurate
information about the clinical trial process, exclusion of key information
in trial listings, and fail to disclose policies that address the use of
personal information that is collected by the web site. The report can
be viewed at http://oig.hhs.gov/oei/reports/oei-01-97-00198.pdf.
RSO STAFF ADDITION.
Welcome to Jodi Altenhofen, CCRC, who will be joining the RSO as a Research
Process Manager. Jodi’s previous experience as a research coordinator at
the University in Kidney Transplant Research will be very valuable to the
RSO customers with whom she will work.
