Parking at 717 Garage
Parking at 717 requires two processes.
1) Entry into the overhead garage door from Oak Street requires the transponder that Parking Services has sent you.
2) The return to your parked car requires U-card activation.
717 Delaware is a secured building. The exterior doors are locked between
6:00 PM and 7:00 AM Monday through Friday and all day weekends and holidays. To
enter the garage 24/7, from inside the building, your U-card will have to be
activated for the garage level.
People requiring U-card access (card reader access) to the garage will fall into one of the two categories below.
A) If you already have access to the building, have the transponder and before you start using the garage, you must bring this letter to the 717 Delaware Info Desk as proof that your card should be activated for the garage level. Ask the staff person at the info desk to make a copy of the letter to start the activation process. Bring the transponder number [the shorter, (5-digits) set of numbers under the barcode] with you. Allow 1-2 days after this requirement is met for U-card activation.
B) If you do NOT already have card-reader access to 717 Delaware, you must do the following. Before you start using the garage, go to the 717 Delaware Info Desk, present your U-card and this letter for copying as proof that your card should be activated for the garage level. We also require that an information form be completed at the info desk while the card is being copied. On the form it asks for name of "PI, facility ...” the facility is "717 Delaware Garage". Bring the transponder number [the shorter, (5-digits) set of numbers under the barcode] with you.Allow 1-2 days after this requirement is met for U-card activation.
You may also go to one of our other information desks (Nils Hasselmo, MCB or LRB/MTRF) to complete the requirements. However, it must state on the form that you are requesting access to "717 Delaware Garage".
When you have completed the appropriate steps, your U-card will be activated within 1-2 business days. The card will work in the elevators and center stairs going down to the basement from 1st.
Important: If you enter the garage the trasnponder, but your U-card is not activated, you will not be able to return to your car.
