Application Process

To apply to the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Programs in Duluth, you need to do the follow through Apply Yourself (not the Duluth Graduate Programs application).  Also see Applications Materials Checklist below.

  • Apply to the University of Minnesota Graduate School on the Twin Cities campus through Apply Yourself:
    • submit to the Graduate School
      • completed online application form 
      • college transcripts
      • GRE scores
      • TOEFL scores for English proficiency (if English is not your first language)
      • application fee (Graduate School will not process your application without payment)
      • three letters of application
  • Apply to your Graduate Program (if required, see individual program websites for application information) through Apply Yourself:
    • submit appropriate materials per program
      • program application
      • any other required information

All application materials should be submitted directly to the Apply Yourself admissions system. We cannot review your application until all of the required materials listed below are submitted successfully.

Transcripts

Unofficial transcripts or academic records should be uploaded directly to the online application. Please do not mail in paper copies of your transcripts, there is no need for official transcripts or academic records for initial review.

If you are admitted, the University will then request official copies of this material.

You must list on your online application each institution of higher learning from which you have earned credit. You must also submit transcripts or academic records for each of these institutions. This includes partial or incomplete transcripts.

Unofficial Transcripts

Unofficial transcripts or academic records must be submitted directly to the ApplyYourself online application. Please do not submit paper copies of this material because it will cause delays in your application processing. Click here for more detailed instructions.

If you have been previously enrolled at the University of Minnesota (any campus), you can get electronic copies of your transcripts from OneStop student services.

Official Transcripts

You will only be asked to submit official transcripts or academic records if you are admitted. These must be submitted before you register and enroll at the University of Minnesota.

If you have attended universities that issue official transcripts on request, you must have these materials sent to the Graduate School Admissions Office directly from the institution. An official, certified (signature and seal) English translation should be attached if the transcript is not in English.

The University of Minnesota reserves the right to require the submission of official transcripts or credentials any time during the admission review process.

Acceptable recommendations will come from current or former professors who can assess your potential for graduate work. Other recommenders, such as employers, are also acceptable. Paper copies are not accepted.

Complete the program's application (if applicable) and upload it under Graduate Program Additional Application in the Program Supplementary Information section in ApplyYourself.

 

Publications

Upload your publications and articles into the Other Information portion on the Graduate Program Supplementary Information section of the ApplyYourself online application.

 

GRE Scores Electronically via ApplyYourself

Scores should be entered in the Test Information-Self-Reported field in ApplyYourself.
