Facilities Services and Stewardship

Several emerging areas of responsibility now fall within the scope of the Office of Facilities and Capital Planning. These responsibilities are carried out largely through our partnerships with other key service providers across the University. Though partnering with Facilities Management has always been part of our work, it has recently taken on a greater role as FM undergoes its transformation as a world class service organization.

FM Partnership
From the beginning, this office has endorsed a strong partnership with Facilities Management in order to ensure new and renovated facilities can be supported operationally. This has also allowed better coordination of all facilities projects across the AHC including those originating in individual departments. Close collaboration with FM has allowed thoughtful leveraging of capital, R&R and HEAPR allocations.

Safety and Security Coordination
The Office of Facilities and Capital Planning has recently received oversight of the safety and security monitors that keep the Academic Health Center safe.  Our office also provides leadership and facilitation to safety and security discussions as they pertain to facility and employee safety. Key stakeholders in this role are University Police, Department of Environmental Health & Safety, Research Building Services, Research Animal Resources, AHC Office of Communications, Classroom Services, Emergency Management, Department of Central Security, Fairview Security, Occupational Health, and Facilities Management.
