Exit Interview
There are two Exit Interview forms available for use. It is our recommendation that you provide both forms to any employee leaving on a voluntary basis.
The U Wide Exit Interview form data will be summarized by the Office of Human Resources, and used by Central Human Resources and the Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action to better understand issues arising in the workplace.
Why are we conducting an exit interview and collecting exit interview data?
- To determine the real reason why the employee is leaving in case of a voluntary termination and try to retain desirable employees whenever possible. (An employee may be leaving for a job that pays more money, but she or he may have been prompted to look for position for an entirely different reason.)
- To discover any grievances the employee may have regarding departmental conditions, so that corrective action can be taken.
- To retain the goodwill of the employee, the employee s family, and the employee s friends toward the university.
- To discover any misunderstandings the employee may have had regarding her or his job towards the supervisors so that corrective action can be taken.
- Determine if there is a way to salvage the employment relationship.
What will the data be used for?
- Reduce turnover within a particular department and AHC in general.
- Develop practices which would improve on current working conditions.
- Identify any legal problems.
- Assist a specific manager with developmental needs.
- Improve the effectiveness of general management practices.
- Identify and address any detrimental patterns.
