Career Development Process: Starting a Health Career

• Help your students work on different facets of their pathway to a health career.
• Have your students explore each topic (or click on the links to the right), to help them move through the beginning steps of their career decision-making process.
• Information about self-asessment, different occupations and career action plans.

Health Career Options

• Contains details and links to information on prerequisites, admission criteria, occupational outlooks and general program information for the health professional programs at the University of Minnesota and beyond.  

Take Pre-Health Courses

• Current course offerings which explore the different health professions in greater detail, including medicine.
• Students can take more than one course.

Information Sessions

• Students can learn more about prerequisites and admission processes at information sessions.
• This is a great avenue to get started in exploring a specific profession and place to get questions answered.

Volunteer

• Have your students get hands-on experience...it looks good on their application to a health professional school!
• The Volunteering section features detailed information on volunteering and why it is important. If you have students who are wondering where to start with volunteering, this is a useful resource.
