Personal Statements for a Health Program

Writing a personal statement when applying to a health professional program can seem like a daunting task. This hands-on, non-credit, online short course will give you the structure you seek in preparing this important piece of your application.

This online, interactive workshop provides general strategies on how to write your personal statement which is required for application to most health professional programs. It discusses why admissions and selection committees use personal statements, what to include in your statement, and strategies for presenting yourself and experience in the best light.

By completing the exercises, you will have a complete draft of your statement. And with that completed draft of your statement, you will be eligible to schedule an individualized 30 minute review of your personal statement with a Health Careers Center career consultant.

Please note that Health Careers Center consultants are only able to review one draft statement per appointment. If you have made significant revisions to your essay after submitting your draft, please contact the Health Careers Center front desk to reschedule your appointment 24 hours in advance.

Registration and Rates

Costs range from $25-30 per person, depending on the student's status. There is no charge for U of M Twin Cities students, as it is covered by the student services fee.
