AseraCare Hospice provides a holistic program of physical, emotional, spiritual, and practical care for people in the last phases of an incurable disease. We use an interdisciplinary approach of physicians, nurses, social workers, homemakers, home health aides, volunteers, spiritual counselors, and bereavement counselors. We provide palliative (comfort) care in the home, skilled nursing facilities and other community-based environments.

“At Home in MN Healthcare” provides assistance for individuals in need by helping them to maintain their independence while continuing to live in their own home. As an “At Home in MN” employee, your responsibilities have very few limitations. You may be responsible for providing basic healthcare, cooking, cleaning, taking our clients into the community, and doing anything else that they need to continue living independently.

Aurora Center for Advocacy and Education (U of M)

The Aurora Center for Advocacy and Education (TAC) at the University of Minnesota was founded in 1989 and resides within the Office for Student Affairs. TAC provides free and confidential crisis intervention to victims of sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking and harassment. TAC also provides services for “concerned persons,” that is, people who are concerned about a friend or a loved one who has experienced these types of crimes. TAC accepts walk-in clients and operates a 24-hour help line, which is answered 365 days a year.

The Aurora Center serves approximately 275 people per year through its advocacy services. The Aurora Center also provides education and training to University of Minnesota students, staff and faculty, as well as to the Twin Cities community, reaching nearly 5,000 people per year with a message of hope and respect.

Brain Injury Association of Minnesota

The Brain Injury Association of Minnesota is the only state-wide organization solely dedicated to helping people navigate life after a brain injury. With the help of volunteers and interns the Brain Injury Association of Minnesota provides help, hope and a voice for the 100,000 Minnesotans who live with a disability as a result of brain injury.

Care Partners

Care Partners is celebrating its 25th year as a volunteer program supported by Children’s Cancer Research Fund of Minneapolis. Through our volunteers, Care Partners provides a variety of non-medical support services for pediatric and adult blood and marrow transplant patients, and pediatric oncology patients at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital.

The Research Associate Program in the Emergency Department at Hennepin County Medical Center hosts medical students and undergraduates interested in medical careers to participate in data collection for academic research projects. As RAs, students are afforded the opportunity to interact with patients, observe the practice of Emergency Medicine, and learn some of the methodology of clinical research. All of the research projects undertaken by the department are aimed at improving patient outcomes. As such, RAs participate daily in the innovation of emergency medical practice.

LHI membership includes 130 University faculty in cardiovascular and/or respiratory research in basic and clinical science, and represents all six schools within the AHC, plus the Institute of Technology and College of Biological Science.

Lutheran Volunteer Corps

The Lutheran Volunteer Corps is a one-year, full-time domestic volunteer program that offers people a challenging year of personal exploration while working for social justice, living in intentional community and simplifying their lifestyles. Volunteers are placed in full-time positions in non-profit organizations in 10 cities across the country. Volunteers receive a stipend to cover basic living and personal expenses, health insurance, and time off for retreats and vacation. The program begins in mid-August of each year. Application deadlines are January 15, March 14, and May 1.

The Minnesota Internship Center School (MNIC) is a charter high school servicing low income African American and immigrant students ages 16-20 in Minneapolis. MNIC focuses on preparing students for high school graduation through academic classes and learning in the community through paid work, internships and volunteering.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) - U of M

UROP provides funding for U of MN undergraduates to undertake a research, scholarly, or creative project under the guidance of a U of MN faculty member. There are two funding rounds each year, and students can apply for a maximum stipend of $1,400 and expenses up to $300. UROP funds students in all undergraduate colleges. The deadline is March 3, 2008 for summer and fall 2008 projects.
