Mondale to Speak on Politics and Health Care

U of M event is part of first annual David A. Rothenberger lecture

WHAT:

Complexity and Meaning in Politics and Health Care

Former United States Vice President Walter F. Mondale will deliver the first annual David. A. Rothenberger Lecture, hosted by the University of Minnesota Medical School and the Department of Surgery. This timely speaking engagement will focus on the complexities surrounding politics and health care. The event is free and open to the public.

BACKGROUND: The Rothenberger Lectureship honors the work of Dr. David A. Rothenberger as physician leader, surgeon, mentor, and researcher. Each year, a guest lecturer will address a topic to stimulate dialogue among health care professionals and our community at large regarding today’s complex and ever-changing health care system. The lecture launches the Emerging Physician Leaders Program in the Medical School.

The Academic Health Center is home to the University of Minnesota’s six health professional schools and colleges as well as several health-related centers and institutes. Founded in 1851, the University is one of the oldest and largest land grant institutions in the country. The AHC prepares the new health professionals who improve the health of communities, discover and deliver new treatments and cures, and strengthen the health economy.
