Services and Rates

• BDAC personnel are written into a grant for reasonable levels of support.
• Hourly rates are billed monthly for projects without grant funding or for grants that do not include support for BDAC personnel. The hourly rates are included under the services described below.

Grant proposal preparation

All pre-award consultation must be initiated 30 days or more before the institutional due date of the application. Limited consultation is available by appointment, but more extensive consultation will require approval by the Scientific Advisory Committee (scientific review application).  Investigators are encouraged to contact BDAC early in the grant preparation process.

• $87.00 / hour + indirect costs (50.5%) for clients outside the University of Minnesota

Data Management

• Services provided include
• MS ACCESS database design
• Database dictionary and documentation
• Design of web-based interface for data entry
• Quality control programs to monitor data integrity
• Data quality reports for DSMB review
• Integration of data from various sources
• Database backup
• Data extraction for analysis
• Rates
• $78.00 / hour for University of Minnesota researchers
• $78.00 / hour + indirect costs (50.5%) for clients outside the University of Minnesota

Data entry

• Data entry services are available at
• $42.00 / hour for University of Minnesota researchers
• $42.00 / hour + indirect costs (50.5%) for clients outside the University of Minnesota

Statistical Analysis

• Services provided include
• Interim analyses for DSMB review
• Data analysis as specified in the study protocol
• Additional exploratory analyses as determined by the research team
• Tables, graphs and summarization of analysis results
• Interpretation of analysis results
• Rates
• $78.00 / hour for University of Minnesota researchers
• $78.00 / hour + indirect costs (50.5%) for clients outside the University of Minnesota

Manuscript Preparation and Review

• Services Provided
• Writing the statistical methods section
• Review of statistical analysis results
• Edits and review of manuscript
• Responses to reviewer comments and questions
• BDAC statisticians who have contributed to analysis design and interpretation of a project, regardless of funding source, are typically included as co-authors on manuscripts.
• Rates
• If BDAC statistician has received funding from a grant there is no charge for manuscript preparation and review.
• If BDAC statistician provided analysis and consultation at hourly rates for a University of Minnesota researcher, 1 hour of manuscript preparation and review are provided at no charge for every 5 hours billed to the project. Additional time required will be billed at the statistical analysis rate ($78.00 / hour).
• Additional analysis needs identified during the course of manuscript preparation will be billed at the statistical analysis rate ($78.00 / hour).
• $78.00 / hour + indirect costs (50.5%) for clients outside the University of Minnesota
