Career Advancement Program for Clinical Research Scholars (CAPS)

The University of Minnesota's mentored clinical research scholars program is funded by the NIH and offers support and training for multidisciplinary scholars on clinical research career paths.

The NIH definition of clinical research:
Studies involving direct contact with human subjects (or material of human origin) including:

  • Patient-Oriented Research
    1. clinical trials
    2. mechanisms of human disease
    3. evaluation of therapeutic interventions
    4. laboratory-based development of
    new technologies for clinical application
  • Epidemiologic (population-based) and Behavioral Research
  • Health Services Research
