Laptops and PDAs

Q: Why is it risky to use laptops and PDAs (such as "Palm Pilots")?
A: Unlike desktop computers, laptops and PDAs are easily misplaced or stolen. If they contain confidential information, patient privacy may be breached. And if they contain software to access the organization’s network, an unauthorized person may gain access to the system and do harm.

Q: What are some measures to protect laptops and PDAs?
A: Lock them up when they are not in use. Use anti-theft products. Use encryption, power-on passwords, authentication and virus-protection software.
