Temporary Card SOP's
- Temporary cards are provided in all RAR animal rooms. It is a two-part card: part 1 is placed on the cage and part 2 is submitted to the RAR business office.
- Used by RAR staff and PI staff to create a new bar-coded cage card(s). For example: Animals in one cage are fighting and need to be separated.
- When part 2 of the temporary card is presented to the RAR business office, new card/cards will be created and returned to the supervisor or animal care tech, along with the original temporary activation card.
- The supervisor or animal care staff places the new bar-coded card on the cage, but leaves the original temporary cards behind the new card so that the originating cage can be identified by barcode. The investigator may remove the temporary card at any time, but they should be discarded and not be placed in the out boxes.
