Biomedical Grants Nominations and Awards Committee

Biomedical Grants Nominations and Awards Committee

Responsibilities

  1. Identify candidates for funding opportunities (usually from foundations) for which the University is invited to select a limited number of nominees (the committee handles all funding opportunities restricted to the life sciences; the Graduate School handles those unrelated to life sciences and those that are broader than life sciences alone; and individual colleges handle those opportunities that are discipline-specific). The committee accomplishes this task by reviewing "pre-proposals" from potential candidates and by pro-actively identifying faculty who should be considered for a certain program. 2. Identify candidates for internal recognition (eg, McKnight professorships)
  3. Assist these faculty and their departments prepare nominations/applications for #1 and #2
  4. Identify candidates and advocate for external faculty honors (eg, Institute of Medicine and National Academy of Sciences)
