Damon Runyon-Lilly Clinical Investigator Award

Amount/Duration: $500,000 ($100,000 per year x 5 years plus up to $100,000 medical school debt retirement)

Number of Projects Awarded: 5

Deadline: March 1, 2005

Description: Supports promising young physician-scientists willing to devote their careers to the development and application of new diagnostic approaches and therapeutic strategies for cancer and cancer prevention through clinical investigation. The awardees and their senior mentor will receive financial support for up to five years.

Eligibility: M.D. or M.D./Ph.D; Assistant Professors within the first four years of their appointment or fellows in final year of sub-specialty training with guaranteed faculty appointment.

Nominations Process: Two nominations are permitted per institution. Potential applicants should electronically send a preliminary proposal 1-2 pages in length plus a curriculum vitae to Mark Paller (palle001@umn.edu), Assistant Vice President for Research, AHC, by 7 January, 2005. A committee of faculty members will screen applications/nominations and select the 2 finalists.
