The V Foundation Grant: Scholar Award

Sponsor: The V Foundation for Cancer Research
Award: The V Foundation Scholar Award
Amount/Duration: A total of $100,000 is given in two yearly installments, funds will be used to offset the direct costs of the research project
Deadline: Foundation deadline August 11, 2008.  Internal deadline June 30, 2008.

Description: Funding is available to pursue cancer research for applicants who have not yet secured their own R01 funding.  (Applicants with institutional or K08 awards are eligible.)

Nomination Process: The University may submit one application. The candidate must have completed at least two years of fellowship training, with no more than five years passing since joining the faculty as instructor or assistant professor.  No more than 10 years can have elapsed since terminal degree (MD or PhD) and the applicant cannot have yet been promoted to Associate Professor.  For internal review, the applicant should provide a one page outline of the proposed research and its rationale. If there are multiple applicants, the Cancer Center Executive Committee will name a committee of faculty members who will select the finalist to represent the University.
