2 Positions, 25% Time Each
Spring Semester 2008
Position: Teaching Assistants (2 positions)
Course: PubH 6342 (Epidemiologic Methods II)
Course Description: This intermediate course
covers methods and techniques for designing,
implementing, analyzing, and interpreting
observational epidemiologic studies, including
cohort, case-control, and cross-sectional studies.
It is the second course in a four-course sequence
on the theory and practice of epidemiology. This
course is designed primarily for masters and
doctoral students in epidemiology.
Duties:
1. Attend each class session 4:00 – 5:15pm on
Tuesday and Thursday
2.Assist instructor in preparing materials for
class
3.Maintain regular office hours to answer
students’ questions
4.Assist in grading student assignments
5.Possible class lecturing (1-2 sessions)
Duration: January 10, 2008 through May 25, 2008
Hours: 25% (Hours to be arranged)
Location: 1300 South Second Street, Suite 300
(WBOB)
Pay Rate:Current hourly pay rates for teaching
assistants in the School of Public Health are:
$16.22 for those with bachelor’s degrees
$20.75 for those with master’s degrees
$25.27 for those with doctoral degrees
Qualifications: Successful candidates will be
graduate students working on a Masters degree or
PhD in the School of Public Health who have
completed at least two courses on epidemiologic
methods.

This position is contingent upon enrollment and
current registration as a graduate student at the
University of Minnesota. Failure to register by
the end of the second week of classes (fall
semester) will result in termination from the
teaching assistantship.
