FELLOWSHIP OVERVIEW:
Through hands-on-project management and 
participation in hospital management, committees 
and the activities of senior management, the 
Fellow is exposed to the clinical and operational 
departments of the acute care setting. Attendance 
at meetings of the Administrative Staff, Senior 
Staff and Professional Staff, among others, as 
requested or directed, further augments the 
training experience. The Fellowship begins June 
29, 2009 and lasts for one year. 

The fellowship is largely self-directed in terms 
of project selection, though several projects 
carry over from Fellow-to-Fellow to ensure 
continuity and also to provide a broad sample of 
the types of short-term and long-term initiatives 
and activities encountered in hospital 
administration. Fellows are encouraged to learn 
about all aspects of health care delivery and to 
seek experience in areas they might be interested 
in pursuing after completing their Fellowship 
program. This consists of experience in, but is 
not limited to, the following:

    * Finance
    * Performance Improvement
    * Patient Care Services
    * Patient Satisfaction initiatives
    * Patient Safety
    * Research
    * Community Affairs
    * Special Projects (e.g., bed tracking, 
      physician surveys, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Application to the Fellowship is open to those 
candidates who have received their Master's 
degrees in health care administration, business 
administration or public health, or to those 
candidates who will receive their degrees upon 
completion of their residency. Preference is given
to applicants with prior work experience in a 
hospital or health care environment.

COMPENSATION:
The fellow is paid a stipend and provided with 
monthly pre-paid vouchers for use in the hospital 
cafeteria.

ORIENTATION:
Every Fellow attends the general new employee 
Orientation to learn about Hospital history, 
benefits, departments, Standards of Excellence and
services. Additionally, a minimum two-week 
Administration Fellowship Orientation is provided 
to introduce the Fellow and to supply a more 
in-depth overview of PAH. This Fellowship 
Orientation includes one-on-one meetings with:

    * Members of the Operations Executive Council
          o Executive Director
          o Chief Operating Officer / Chief 
            Nursing Officer
          o Chief Medical Officer
          o Senior Vice President of Professional 
            Services
          o Chief Human Resources Officer
          o Director of Finance
          o Associate Administrator
    * Vice Presidents / Associate Vice Presidents
    * Directors
    * Others

The Preceptor for the Fellowship program is the 
Associate Administrator.
