SPH Career Services seeks a 50% time (8/31/2009 –
1/13/2010) Field Experience Graduate Assistant.
The mission of SPH Career Services is to provide
career development guidance, tools, resources,
and opportunities for SPH students and alumni to
successfully begin, enhance, and manage their
careers.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
(1) Maintain, develop, improve, publicize and
promote the field experience website.
(2) Present Field Experience information at
Orientation, classes, and special events as
requested.
(3) Plan and oversee implementation of a Field
Experience Fair during fall semester featuring
students who have completed both international
and domestic field experiences to educate others
on how to find and fund their own field
experiences.
(4) Plan and oversee implementation of a Field
Experience presentation during spring semester
featuring students who have completed both
international and domestic field experiences to
educate others on how to find and fund their own
field experiences.
(5) Meet with students individually about to
respond to their field experience questions as
needed.
(6) Respond and answer preceptor and faculty
advisor (usually via email) concerns and
questions about the field experience website.
(7) Publicize and promote the online field
experience assessment tool; assist students with
linking their results to suitable field
experience opportunities.
(8) Track field experiences of students; follow
up and send thank you notes to preceptors after
completion of the field experience.
(9) Research and develop funding opportunities -
especially for international field experiences.
(10) Actively conduct outreach with employers to
locate possible field experiences and preceptors;
research other field experience opportunities;
publicize those opportunities to students.
(11) Solicit and implement suggestions and
comments to improve the field experience web site.
(12) Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) Registered as a FT graduate student during
the 2009 – 10 academic year.
(2) Familiar with the School of Public Health
academic program.
(3) Fluent on Microsoft Office applications.
(4) Ability to work independently and in a team
environment.
(5) Excellent written and demonstrated oral
communication skills.
(6) Detail-oriented; proven ability to follow
through on projects.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) Experience designing, implementing, or
maintaining websites; completed an international
field experience.
COMPENSATION:
$16.75/hour
