Healthy Eating Research, a national research
program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
focused on policy and environmental strategies to
promote healthy eating and prevent childhood
obesity, seeks a masters student temp/casual
worker for 15-20 hours per week from June-August
2009, with the possibility of continuing into the
2009-10 academic year. Incoming and current
masters students are eligible for this position.
This program is directed by Mary Story, PhD, RD,
and is housed in the Division of Epidemiology and
Community Health in the University of Minnesota
School of Public Health.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assisting with preparation for a local meeting
to be held July 23-24, 2009;
Assisting with preparation for a national
meeting to be held in December 2009;
Entering program data into Excel, Access, and
web-based applications;
Assisting with gathering and synthesizing
program information;
Tracking grantee information;
Developing content for program Web site;
Conducting literature reviews; and
Photocopying materials, preparing mailings and
filing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent attention to detail and
organizational skills;
Strong oral and written communication skills;
Data entry experience with a high degree of
accuracy;
Experience working with Microsoft Office
applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel) and
database applications (e.g., Access, FileMaker);
A work history demonstrating the ability to
take initiative and work independently;
Ability to maintain organized paper and
electronic shared files; and
Ability to keep program information strictly
confidential.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to candidates with
experience planning for large meetings and
availability to work July 20-24, 2009. Interest
and experience in nutrition, childhood obesity
prevention, and research is a plus.
COMPENSATION:
$16.79 per hour
