The Division of Epidemiology and Community Health
(University of Minnesota School of Public Health)
is seeking a masters- or doctoral-level student to
fill an RA position for the Fall 2009 semester,
with the possibility of continuing through Spring
2010. The position will involve working with
genetic study of venous thrombosis and related
biomarkers. Incoming and current students are
eligible for this position.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Analyzing genetic variants with discrete and
quantitative outcomes;
• Generation of report formats (for example tables)
for summarizing analysis output;
• Conducting literature reviews;
• Conducting genetic data mining by using
bioinformatics tools;
• Participating in publications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Familiarity with data analysis and ability to
manage large datasets;
• Knowledge of genetics would be preferred but not
required;
• Experience working with SAS;
• Experience in manipulating files on UNIX systems;
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational
skills;
• Ability to learn new statistical programs;
• Ability to keep data strictly confidential;
• A strong work ethic and enthusiastic attitude; and
• Interest and/or experience in genetic
epidemiological research.
