This position will provide support for the
Minnesota Women's Healthy Heart Study, a program
that screens Minnesota women for cardiovascular
disease risk factors and promotes risk reduction
through lifestyle change.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
60% Health promotion outreach to targeted groups of
women, lifestyle intervention counseling and
follow-up care, working directly with women
referred into the program by providers in the UMN
Women's Health Clinic. Carry out group and
one-on-one lifestyle intervention to reduce risks
associated with heart disease: obesity, smoking,
poor nutrition.
40% Administration, Data collection, evaluation and
analysis: collect data for program evaluation and
participation in the ASIST2010 project, sponsored
by the Office of Women's Health. Carry out
follow-up activities with participants, market the
program to providers and look for opportunities to
expand the program to immigrant and minority women.
Administer the study's incentive program, and
attend regular administrative meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o UMN graduate academic work in public health,
nursing, health promotion, nutrition or related
field
o Knowledge of evaluation and statistics
o Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word
and Excel
o Strong organizational skills
o Detail oriented
o Strong verbal and written communication skills
o Interest and commitment to women's health issues
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This appointment is for Fall semester 2009 through
Summer 2010, depending on grant funding, academic
progress and performance. Average 10 hours/week
with 3-4 hours per week in the evening. $16.75 per
hour.
