We are now accepting applications for the 2010 
State Policy Fellowship, a new initiative of the 
Center on Budget and Policy Priorities 
(www.cbpp.org), a national policy institute, and 
the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative (SFAI), a 
network of influential state policy 
organizations. 

Fellows will spend two years as entry-level 
analysts in a state policy organization in the 
SFAI network (www.statefiscal.org) or the 
Center’s state fiscal division in Washington, 
D.C. Fellows will research and write analyses on 
current policy issues; brief policymakers, 
journalists, and others on these issues; and 
serve as a resource for advocates and community 
groups.

Fellows will tackle domestic policy challenges in 
areas like health care, taxes, anti-poverty 
policy, education, and public safety. Working in 
independent, highly respected think tanks located 
in state capitals, they will analyze the impact 
of state budget and tax policy choices on 
low-income residents and promote positive 
reforms. 

Fellowships will begin at the end of August 2010.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Graduate degree in public policy, law, social 
work, economics, or related field by August 2010
2) Strong academic record, and 
3) Eligibility to work in the United States for 
the two-year duration of the program.

Candidates should have an interest in state 
fiscal policy and a commitment to improving the 
welfare of low- and moderate-income households. 
Preference will be given to applicants who have 
experience with, or demonstrate a strong interest 
in, working with diverse communities.

COMPENSATION:
Each fellow will receive an annual salary of 
$45,000 - $50,000 (regional salary adjustments 
may be applied to higher-cost locations) and 
health benefits are provided.

fiscal policy and a commitment to improving 
opportunities for low- and moderate-income

transcripts, and two letters of recommendation.
