Health Policy Fellowship

The aim of the fellowship is to foster 
collaboration between NCHS staff and visiting 
scholars on a wide range of topics of mutual 
concern. The fellowship allows visiting scholars to 
conduct new and innovative analyses and participate 
in developmental and health policy activities 
related to the design and content of future NCHS 
surveys. All applicants must demonstrate training 
and/or experience in health services research and 
its methodology, especially quantitative data 
analysis, reflecting disciplines such as public 
health, public administration, health care 
administration, sociology, nutrition, health 
economics, health statistics, or the health 
professions (e.g., medicine, nursing, dentistry, 
etc.). 

QUALIFICATIONS
Student applicants must be doctoral students who 
have completed course work and be at the 
dissertation phase of their program. Doctoral 
students will work on their dissertation research 
project. By the end of the fellowship, each student 
will also prepare a report on the approach and 
methodology they used for his or her project and 
experience using NCHS data systems. Doctoral 
students are strongly encouraged to seek 
opportunities to work with NCHS staff on 
collaborative projects of mutual interest.
