The State Health Access Data Assistance Center 
(SHADAC) in the Division of Health Policy and 
Management, School of Public Health, University 
of Minnesota, is accepting applications for a 
Coordinator position. SHADAC is a Robert Wood 
Johnson Foundation research center that provides 
research and technical assistance to help states 
collect, access, and translate health insurance 
coverage data to inform state health policy. The 
successful candidate will perform data analysis 
and programming functions for SHADAC. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
 -- Active participation in providing support to 
team-based research projects focused on issues of 
uninsurance and employer-sponsored health 
insurance coverage. 
 -- Regularly update SHADAC website by posting 
publications, blog entries and news items. 
 -- Prepare manuscripts for submission.
 -- Update the manuscript index.
 -- Track technical assistance requests and responses.
 -- Maintain up-to-date cvs and other 
documentation for faculty and staff.
 -- Update and maintain bibliography of products, 
publications, and presentations for reporting to 
the sponsor.
 -- Scheduling meetings/conference calls.
 -- Manage calendars. 
 -- Maintain files and record-keeping for the 
center. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 -- BA/BS degree and one year of program planning 
or related experience or a combination of 
education and relevant experience.
 -- Demonstrated ability to perform complex tasks 
and to prioritize multiple projects, with skills 
in organizing resources and establishing 
priorities. 
 -- Excellent analytic thinking skills and the 
ability to communicate effectively, both orally 
and in writing. 
 -- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability 
to work effectively with a wide range of 
constituencies in a diverse community. 
 -- Be timely and prompt with assignments, and 
maintain an orderly and professional work 
environment. 
 -- Skilled in word processing operations, 
including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Access. 
 -- Strong organization and leadership skills, 
self-motivated and able to meet deadlines. 
Proficiency in editing for grammar, punctuation 
and spelling; high level of accuracy and 
attention to detail. 
 -- Function with a minimum amount of 
supervision. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 -- Knowledge of health care systems and public 
programs (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP) 
desired. 
 -- Good working knowledge of health care field 
and health policy. 
 -- Experience working in a university or higher 
education setting. 
 -- Experience in conducting and writing about 
research. 
 -- Good research skills, including data 
collection, literature reviews, data analysis, 
and use of SAS or STATA.

SUPERVISION:
Works under the general direction and supervision 
of Principal Investigator, Lynn A. Blewett, Ph.D. 
and in coordination with other staff as 
appropriate. Ongoing collaborative work will 
involve providing leadership and supervision to 
project team members and graduate students on a 
project-by-project basis. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This 75%-100% time, 12-month appointment is 
annually renewable, dependent on continued 
availability of funding, and offers the standard 
University benefits package. Salary is based on 
experience and qualifications. The position is 
open until filled.
