McKinsey & Company is a global management
consulting firm with 82 offices in 43 countries,
advising the top management of leading companies
and institutions on issues of strategy,
organization, technology and operations. Our
mission is twofold: to help our clients make
positive, lasting and substantial improvements in
their performance and to build a great Firm that
is able to attract, develop, excite and retain
exceptional people.
THE GLOBAL HEALTHCARE PRACTICE
The Firm serves multiple industries and is
organized around industry-specific Practices.
Since 2000, our Global Healthcare Practice, which
consists of 70 partners, 200 clinicians and over
500 consulting staff, has undertaken over 4,200
healthcare studies. The practice consists of two
segments: a Healthcare Payor and Provider
segment, which also includes the Health Systems
Group, and the Pharmaceuticals and Medical
Products segment.
The Healthcare Payor and Provider practice (HPP)
creates new solutions to challenges facing health
care organizations. We advise clients on
organization, marketing, and strategy; health
care reform; analysis of market trends and
epidemiological data. We also help companies find
ways to grow and provide strategic guidance,
research, and analytical support in launching new
products and services. The practice serves three
types of clients: healthcare payors (i.e. private
insurance companies, HMOs, NHS, etc), providers
(i.e. academic medical centers, hospital systems,
physicians) and health system leaders
(governments) on a broad range of strategic,
organizational and operations effectiveness
issues.
Since 2002, McKinseys Health Systems Group (HSG)
has led work related to the third segment of the
HPP practice. We serve governments worldwide to
help them build and improve their health
systems. We have participated in major health
systems reform programs in regions and countries
as diverse as the UK, Scandinavia, Cyprus,
Canada, US, Egypt, Singapore, the Middle East and
Tanzania. We have helped them to fundamentally
improve health outcomes through policy and
organisational reforms that have increased access
to health services, improved quality of care, and
helped governments and their citizens to more
effectively utilise health resources.
The Health Systems Institute (HSI) works to
fundamentally improve health outcomes around the
world by helping our clients to increase access
to health services, improve quality of care, most
effectively utilize health resources and deliver
better patient experiences. We will do this by
becoming the leading provider of meaningful and
credible health systems performance information,
analysis and advice to health system leaders.
