The Center for Health Equity is a Medical School 
center that was established in 2009 with receipt 
of an NIH Comprehensive Centers of Excellence in 
Minority Health and Health Disparities award. It 
is leading a large and ambitious agenda to
transform research and strengthen community 
partnerships at the University and in the Twin 
Cities. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Program Administrative Director will oversee 
management and administration of the Center for 
Health Equity, including fiscal operations, human 
resources, and research planning, as directed by 
the Executive Director. Specific duties include:

• Lead conference planning for the annual 
Accelerating the Future Symposium and the Midwest 
Regional Conference on Health Disparities and 
Minority Health in year 5 of this grant;
• Oversee center budget
• Serve ex-officio on the four Advisory Boards;
• Lead preparation and submission of reports for 
NIH, IRB renewal, and the Medical School;
• Develop the agenda of the Executive Board 
meetings, External Advisory board meetings, 
senior leadership meetings and annual strategic 
planning retreats;
• Manage all other daily administrative functions 
related to this Center grant;
• Market the Center and its programs;
• Represent the Center (CHE) and travel to, and 
work with, our partners from selected 
Historically Black Colleges and Universities 
(HBCU) to identify and recruit health science 
students;
• Lead some manuscripts in the area of health 
disparities and minority health;
• Manage the Center's space in the University's 
new UNP building in the northside community in 
North Minneapolis, and serve as the liaison to 
the UNP staff (in the Provost's office); and
• In years 2-5, in addition to the CHE grant, 
take on a leadership role on two other NIH grants 
(R01 and RC2 ARRA stimulus) in the area of 
minority health.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) a master's degree in social science, public 
health, health services research, clinical 
research, health communication, or a health-
related field, (2) three to five years in middle 
management with direct supervisory experience
required, and (3) three to five years experience 
managing research projects, as well as 
administrative and budget management experience. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to candidates with a 
doctorate degree in social science, public 
health, health services research, clinical 
research, health communication, or health-related 
fields.
