The Mansky Lab

Welcome to the Mansky Lab! Our laboratory studies the cell and molecular biology of human retroviruses: human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1, the cause of AIDS), human T-cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1, the cause of an adult T-cell leukemia), and xenotropic murine leukemia virus-related virus (XMRV, a newly discovered human retrovirus associated with prostate cancer and chronic fatigue).  Our research has a particular focus on human retrovirus genetic variation, evolution and population genetics as well as virus assembly. We seek to apply these concepts towards  the identification of novel drug targets for drug discovery.
