Research
The future of advancements in understanding women's health issues is highly dependent on innovative and interdisciplinary research. Being surrounded by an institution comprised of the nation's top researchers, the University of Minnesota is a breeding ground for new leaders in women's health research.
The Deborah E. Powell Center's mission is to catalyze research partnerships that impact the health of women and their communities. We will implement this mission through a program to increase the quantity and quality of women’s health research emanating from the University of Minnesota in three specific areas: 1.) Women’s Mental Health, 2.) Infectious disease, and 3.) Obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrome.
The success of this mission is demonstrated through the following achievements:
- The Annual Women's Health Research Conference
- The Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health Program
- A 2007 Benchmarking Study tracking women's health research at the University of Minnesota
