Introduction to Mother-Baby (3-Day Course)
Following AWHONN guidelines, each session will provide essential information for nurses caring for women, infants and families. Evidence based information and guidelines for postpartum care, newborn nutrition and development as well as assisting the family in adjusting to its new role will be thoroughly discussed. The goal of this course is to provide the nurse with the education she will need to help families feel comfortable and confident in their ability to care for their child after they leave the hospital.

Day 1: Introduction to Normal Postpartum Assessment/Care, Documentation, and Pain Management

Day 2: Introduction to Normal Newborn Assessment/Care, Breastfeeding and Infant Safety and Security

Day 3: Introduction to High Risk Newborns, Neonatal Infections, NRP First Responder and documentation
