Cancer

Conquering the number one killer of Minnesotans is no easy task. But at the University of Minnesota we have the depth and breadth in research and care to reduce the toll of this deadly disease.

Within the Masonic Cancer Center—our National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center—researchers work tirelessly to advance studies in genetics, cell and vaccine therapies, immunology, and blood and marrow transplantation. Specialized cell processing facilities help us provide innovative treatments designed to conquer this killer.

Thanks to the Biomedical Discovery District, we’re able to expand our program offerings. The Masonic Cancer Center’s space in the Cancer and Cardiovascular Research Building holds two specific groups of investigators— chemical biologists focusing on studying chemical carcinogens as a cause of cancer, and faculty focusing on novel new therapeutic strategies to fight cancer.
